Ask FireAI in your language: 16 languages, one real order each

Tell your firewall what you want in the language you think in, and see exactly what it will do before anything changes.

Where in FireAI: Settings › Language, and Home › Ask FireAI

Two settings decide how FireAI speaks with you, and they don’t depend on each other. FireAI’s language is what its window, menus, prompts and notifications are written in. The language you type in is free: Ask FireAI reads an order in any of the 16 languages below, whatever language the window is in. A family can keep FireAI in English on a shared Mac while a parent types orders in Arabic, Polish or Brazilian Portuguese.

Change FireAI’s language

  1. Open FireAI, then choose FireAI › Settings… (or press ⌘,).
  2. Find the Language section. The menu lists every language in its own name: العربية, Deutsch, English, Español, Español (México), Français, Italiano, Norsk bokmål, Polski, Português (Brasil), Português (Portugal), Русский, Svenska, Türkçe, Українська and 简体中文.
  3. Pick one. Same as macOS, the default, follows your Mac’s own language.
  4. Click Restart Now. macOS applies an app’s language when it starts, so FireAI reopens in the new one. Your rules, profiles and history are untouched.

One real order per language

Each row is an everyday situation, the order typed into Ask FireAI, and what FireAI proposes. FireAI always shows the change as a preview first; nothing happens until you click Apply.

Tested on 2026-10-03 with the on-device model and the app’s own instructions: 16 of 16 orders gave the expected change.

Orders that work the first time

  • Start with what you want done: block, allow, turn off, switch to. “bloqueie os sites de golpes e phishing” is read as the scam shield; “protect my Mac from scams” can be read as a security mode instead, and FireAI then says it couldn’t turn it into an action.
  • Name a kind of site (“online games”, “adult sites”, “betting”) to turn a shield on, or one site or app (“Discord”, “youtube.com”) for a single rule.
  • Write app and company names the way they’re usually written, in any script: 微信, واتساب or Телеграм are understood as WeChat, WhatsApp and Telegram.
  • Add a time if you want one: “at night”, “la nuit”, “nachts” and their equivalents become a timed rule.
  • Read the preview. If it isn’t what you meant, click Cancel and rephrase; nothing has changed.

What is the same in every language

  • Every order is shown as a preview and waits for Apply.
  • The order is read on your Mac, by FireAI’s parser or its on-device AI. It never leaves the Mac.
  • Every order that adds a rule is kept in your own words under Settings › Your preferences, in the language you wrote it, so you can find it and undo it later.
