# Install the FireAI Mac firewall and finish Setup

> Install FireAI on your Mac by moving it to Applications, approving the system extension, and turning on the content filter so protection can start.

Get from a fresh download to full protection in three confirmed steps.

FireAI can only watch and block connections once macOS itself approves two things. FireAI can open the right screen for you, but only you can click Allow.

## Move FireAI to Applications

1. Open FireAI. Setup greets you with “Let’s protect your Mac” and a Get Started button.
2. If FireAI isn’t already in your Applications folder, the first card reads “Move FireAI to Applications”. Click Move and Reopen. FireAI moves itself there and opens again; nothing else changes.

> **Note:** macOS only lets an app in the Applications folder run a content-filter system extension, so this step can’t be skipped.

## Allow FireAI to see connections

1. Click Open System Settings on the “Allow FireAI to see connections” card.
2. macOS shows a “System Extension Blocked” notice the first time you launch FireAI — that’s expected.
3. In System Settings, go to General › Login Items & Extensions › Network Extensions.
4. Turn the extension on and confirm with Touch ID or your password.

> **Warning:** System Settings still lists it under an older internal name, “FirewAi Filter”, not “FireAI Filter” — look for that if you don’t see “FireAI” in the list. If it isn’t there at all, go back to Setup and click Install Extension Again.

## Turn on protection

1. Back in Setup, click Turn On.
2. macOS shows its own alert asking whether the filter may inspect network content — click Allow.

> **Note:** That system alert also names the filter “FirewAi”, the same older internal name. If you click Don’t Allow by mistake, open System Settings › Network › Filters and turn it on there instead.

## You’re set

Once all three cards turn green, Setup offers Start Using FireAI. Nothing is lost if you stop partway: Setup stays in the sidebar, marked, until every step is done, and you can pick it up later.
