# Ask FireAI: control your Mac firewall in plain language

> Ask FireAI lets you type a plain-language order like “block Teams” or “go in coffee shop mode” on your Mac, and turns it into a rule you approve before anything changes.

Change what FireAI does by typing a sentence, not hunting through menus.

The composer sits at the top of Home: “Ask FireAI anything… ‘block Teams’, ‘allow Anthropic’”. Chips offer a head start — Block an app…, Allow a company…, Coffee shop mode, Paranoid mode — or you can just type.

## Nothing changes until you say so

FireAI answers with a preview: a one-line summary and the details of what it understood. Click Apply to make the change, or Cancel to walk away — nothing is written until you click Apply.

## Languages

FireAI understands orders in all 16 languages its window comes in: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, Swedish, Norwegian, Simplified Chinese and Arabic. Write in whichever you like, whatever language FireAI itself is set to. > **Note:** When FireAI recognises the verb but not a name — a company or app written in a script it doesn’t resolve — and the on-device AI is turned on, it gets one more chance to name it before FireAI gives up. Without the AI, FireAI still understands simple orders; it just can’t guess unfamiliar names.

## What it can do

- Add a Block or Allow rule for an app, a company or a domain — optionally only at certain hours.
- Switch security mode: Home, Coffee shop, Paranoid or Under attack.
- Switch operating mode: Alert, FireAI Pilot, Silent – allow or Silent – deny.
- Turn the kill switch, or Protection itself, on or off.
- Start or stop an activity profile, once 0.1.3 is out — “I’m doing homework until 6pm”, “I’m done”.
