# Places: rule profiles that switch with your Wi-Fi network

> Places are named sets of rules and a security mode for home, work or a café on your Mac, and they can switch on their own when your Wi-Fi changes.

**Where in FireAI:** Settings › Places

Keep separate rules for home, work and public Wi-Fi, without switching them by hand.

“Different rules for home, work or a café. Only the active place’s rules, and rules for everywhere, apply.” Create a place, give it a Protection level (or Keep current), and list the Wi-Fi networks that belong to it.

## Switching automatically

Turn on “Switch place automatically when the Wi-Fi changes” and FireAI follows your network. macOS only shares Wi-Fi network names with apps that have Location access, so FireAI asks for it with an Allow Location… button; once granted, the same section shows your current Wi-Fi network name. For step-by-step setup, see [switching profiles automatically by Wi-Fi network](https://hisnlabs.com/fireai/en/docs/switch-profiles-by-wifi).

> **Note:** Location access is used only to read the current Wi-Fi network name for this switch — it isn’t used for anything else, and auto-switching is paused while an activity profile is running.
