The network service doxx.net announced a $38 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Animo Ventures and Focal.vc, for a product it calls Agentic Defined Networking, SecurityWeek reported on 3 October 2026 [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/). The platform, in open beta, offers a parallel private network for people and AI agents, with DNS-level filtering of malicious destinations [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/). It is relevant to Mac users because it is one vendor's answer to the question of where an AI agent should be allowed to connect.

## Background

AI agents open network connections on behalf of a user, and the ordinary internet gives them no separate identity or boundary. Vendors have begun to propose network-level controls built around agents, in addition to controls on the computer itself.

## Findings

SecurityWeek describes the platform as serverless peer-to-peer communication with end-to-end messaging, 196 custom top-level domains served by a proprietary certificate authority, DNS-level protection that blocks malicious destinations, and account creation by proof of work instead of passwords [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/). The company's chief executive, Barrett Lyon, is quoted as saying that "privacy comes from the architecture itself, not a policy document" [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/). SecurityWeek states that the company reports blocking more than 38 million threats since December 2025 [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/); the figure is the company's own.

Network World, on 2 October 2026, reports that the infrastructure spans 31 locations connected by an internal mesh and is run largely by the company's own AI [[2]](https://www.networkworld.com/article/4230194/startup-doxx-net-hands-the-network-controls-to-ai.html). It says an agent gateway gives AI agents an identity inside the doxx.net chat application, and that agents can manage tasks such as BGP routing, domain creation, certificate signing and web services [[2]](https://www.networkworld.com/article/4230194/startup-doxx-net-hands-the-network-controls-to-ai.html). The article adds that administrators control agents through read-only or admin tokens that can expire or be revoked, and quotes Lyon: "You don't just give them your account credentials to the master account" [[2]](https://www.networkworld.com/article/4230194/startup-doxx-net-hands-the-network-controls-to-ai.html).

## Implications for Mac users

The product is aimed at people who build and run agents, and it asks them to move that traffic onto a separate network run by one company [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/) [[2]](https://www.networkworld.com/article/4230194/startup-doxx-net-hands-the-network-controls-to-ai.html). The sources give no price, no list of supported Mac clients and no independent test of the filtering or of the identity model. A network-side control also sits outside the computer, so it does not show which local app opened a connection.

## Recommendations

1. Treat vendor claims about blocked threats as unverified until an independent party has tested them.
2. Before giving an agent a token or account, check whether the token can be limited to read-only access and revoked.
3. Keep agent credentials separate from the credentials of a main account.
4. Combine any network-side filter with a view of what each app on the Mac connects to.

## Relevance to FireAI

FireAI is a firewall for one Mac. It identifies an app by its code signature and applies [per-app rules](https://hisnlabs.com/en/docs/per-app-rules) to each connection that app opens. The [Agent profile](https://hisnlabs.com/en/docs/agent-profile) recognises 19 AI agents and flags a first-ever destination or an upload spike. If the user turns on [threat lists](https://hisnlabs.com/en/docs/threat-intelligence-feeds), FireAI checks traffic against public lists of dangerous websites and addresses without sending that traffic to the list providers.

FireAI is not a private network, a VPN or an identity service for agents, and it does not provide agent accounts, tokens or custom domains. It does not offer the DNS service or the certificate authority that the report describes, and it does not evaluate doxx.net. It does not read the inside of an encrypted connection.

## Limitations

Both articles rely on the company's description of its own product, and Network World's piece, as fetched, contains no analyst comment or independent verification [[1]](https://www.securityweek.com/doxx-net-raises-38-million-to-prevent-ai-agent-on-the-internet-misadventures/) [[2]](https://www.networkworld.com/article/4230194/startup-doxx-net-hands-the-network-controls-to-ai.html). The two reports describe the product with different emphasis, and this item did not use the product or read the company's own announcement. The sources do not state how many people use the platform.
